Take over of Mission Schools and Free Education Programme
The Unity Party of Nigeria UPN which won the Old Oyo State Governorship in 1979, with free and compulsory Education as its cardinal benchmark.
On installation of Chief Bola Ige (now late) as the Executive Governor of the State. He mapped out strategies for the implementing this programme during his tenure of office which lasted 4 years spanning 1979 to September 1983.
The free education programme necessitated establishments of more schools by the state government. As a result of this policy, Loyola College became a public school.
The Catholic Mission thereby lost control of the management of the school, thus the appointment of teaching and non teaching staff including provision of infrastructure , Laboratory equipments, maintenance of classroom blocks was taken over by the State Government.
Problems and Challenges
